Book Review: Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas

Deadly Secret
Sons of Broad #2
Tara Thomas
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Still on the edge of my seat throughout this whole book. And of course I have to wait till the next book to find out who The Gentleman is that has been killing people and what he has been trying to cover up.
Tara Thomas has done an amazing job switching over to the Suspense genre. She definitely keeps you on your toes and you never know what to expect next. And she has made it so difficult to figure out who the killer is.
Can’t wait for Book 3 Broken Promise to come out so I can finish this series and find out what happens next.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review: Bad Business by Nicole Edwards

Bad Business
Bad Boys of Sports #2
Nicole Edwards
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great story by Nicole Edwards. I have been reading a bunch of her books lately. I really enjoy her writing style. She makes it so easy to love her characters and their families.

Excerpt:

Stone: Football is more than a game to me. It’s my calling. Becoming the Dallas Wranglers’ starting quarterback before I retire is a dream come true, but with a few wins under my belt, suddenly everyone wants a piece of me. And even though being in the spotlight has its perks—beautiful women, star treatment, more beautiful women—what really gets me sweating is the watchful gaze of my sexy-as-hell PR coach, Savannah Andrews. The catch? Her father is kind of my boss. . . .

Savannah: In my family, football is big business. When your dad owns an NFL franchise, you learn a thing or two about schmoozing, and from what I can tell, it’s not a skill in Jason Stone’s playbook. Sure, the veteran quarterback is literally larger than life. With broad shoulders, muscles on muscles, and a mouth made for kissing, he may be one of the hottest men in the league—and I should know. I’ve turned down enough players to start my own all-star team. But those guys just wanted to get close to my father. Meanwhile, Stone is getting temptingly close . . . to me.

If you like this book, you should also read the first in the series Bad Reputation. That one was really good also.

Book Review: Our Dark Stars by Audrey Grey and Krystal Wade

Our Dark Stars

Excellent story!!! Such a creative and emotional sci-do/fantasy novel. I am pretty picky when it comes to sci-fi books and this one bypassed all my expectations.

While she sleeps, the whole universe changes.

Princess Talia Starchaser has it all. Wealth. Status. Adoring citizens. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she’s forced to publicly betray her best friend, a companion mock she’s had since birth, setting events into motion that lead to the destruction of the humans, and the princess floating through space, a remnant of a time when humans ruled over droids.

One hundred years later, half-mock captain Will Perrault and his ragtag crew discover a device floating in space. When a very human Talia emerges from its depths, Will suspects she’s the key to buying his way back into the regiment he once commanded against the last remaining rebel humans—and the ruling mock queen’s good graces.

Both Talia and Will would rather get space-tossed than trust one another, but with the queen’s forces chasing them across the galaxy and the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance, they’ll forge the unlikeliest of alliances to survive.

Book Review: Playmaker by L.P. Dover

Playmaker
Breakaway #3
L.P. Dover
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally I was able to find out about Maddox and Lacey aka Paige that was introduced in the previous book in this series. Dover really knows how to create awesome stories that keeps her readers interest throughout the whole book.

He knows every play in the book. But she’s calling the shots.

I’m Maddox Ledger, all-star winger and the reason the Charlotte Strikers killed it in the playoffs. Yeah, the tabloids like to call me arrogant. A real hothead. All I see is a guy who plays to win. Wreaking havoc on the ice, breaking a few hearts—that’s all just part of the game. And I’m sure as hell not sitting on the bench.

When my teammate asks me to be in his wedding party, I can’t refuse. Lucky for me, the bridesmaid I’m paired with is the definition of eye candy, but she’s so much more than that. Lacey Easton is totally irresistible and she makes me want to be a better man. A glimpse of bare shoulder takes me back to a steamy, two-week Vegas tryst I can’t forget. One I’m eager to repeat.

Suddenly our one-night stand is turning into the sequel. Still, Lacey’s keeping secrets. She doesn’t trust me. And maybe I deserve it. But I know more than she thinks I do and there’s no chance I’m letting her get away—or letting another guy take what is mine. This time, I’m playing for keeps.

Great story!! Really enjoyed reading this one. Such a great author…Can’t wait to read more stories from her.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…or does it?
Emily Hodges went to Vegas for her best friend’s wedding. She was NOT looking for a husband. Been there, done that, never doing it again. She has enough scars on her heart, and doesn’t need or want any more.
Brady Gresham went to Vegas to find his musical voice again. Instead he found an inspiring muse in the form of Emily. But right now his musical career is his focus. He’s too young to want or need to be tied down.
Somehow their drunken get-together turned into a wedding that neither one of them can remember or explain.
Waking up married was never part of the plan, but you know what they say about best laid plans…

Book Review: The Duke of Ice by Darcy Burke

The Duke of Ice
The Untouchables #7
Darcy Burke
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great historical romance! Author did a great job in keeping my attention. I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait for the next one to come out.

Everyone Nicholas Bateman ever loved has died. Except Violet Caulfield, which must mean he never loved her. Eight years after she threw him over to marry a viscount, Nick is a widowed duke who prefers isolation. When a friend convinces him to leave his lair of self-imposed solitude, he considers taking another wife, provided she agrees to his terms: no emotional attachment of any kind.

Now widowed, Lady Violet Pendleton hopes for a second chance with the man she’s always loved. But she isn’t prepared for the desolation in his soul or the animosity he still bears toward her. Despite those obstacles, it’s clear their passion hasn’t dimmed. However, the heat between them isn’t enough to melt the Duke of Ice, and this time Violet may find herself the jilted party. Can love, once so tragically lost, finally be found?
